Sixth Form students at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy got busy baking last week and raised an amazing £112 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
On Friday, a group of aspiring chefs honed their baking skills to produce an array of delicious cakes and biscuits to sell during the morning break to the general school community.

The students, who included Ariana Shafie, Cheuk Tse Koon and Aaron McNeill were thrilled to raise £112 for their efforts with all money going to Macmillan Support, a charity that provides important emotional, physical and financial support for those dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
Ariana said, “This is an annual event for us, and we baked a majority of the cakes on Wednesday ready for the coffee morning. We actually sold out, which is amazing. We had a lot of fun as well as raising money for such an important charity.”
Katharine Salmon, Head of Sixth form added, “We are very proud of our students today. We actively encourage them to get involved with the local community and charity work.”
“They also support our wider school community, enhancing the learning and development of our younger students through Student Ambassador Programmes. These are just some of the ways in which our Sixth Form students develop into adults that we are proud to call our own.”

The Sixth form have a long record of charity involvement and their chosen charity for this school year is ActionAid – an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty.
Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Sixth form has its annual open day on Wednesday 12th October 5 – 7.30pm. For more information visit https://www.rwba.org.uk/sixthform/
