Swindon MP Sir Robert Buckland was at Windsor Castle today to pick up his Royal Honour in what is the first time King Charles III has carried out a full investiture ceremony since acceding to the throne.
Sir Robert Buckland, who served as justice secretary and also Wales secretary under Boris Johnson, received the honour of Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE).
This medal was awarded in recognition of ‘outstanding political and public service.’
After picking up the award Sir Buckland said: “I’m deeply honoured to have received my knighthood from his Majesty the King.
“I feel that receiving this award is, I hope, a reflection of the hard work I have put in and continue to put in for my constituents in South Swindon, as a cabinet member and Lord Chancellor most notably, and as continuing service as a member of Parliament.
“It’s a great honour to be recognised in this way and I feel very proud.”
Tory MP Iain Duncan Smith, novelist Anthony Horowitz, singer Pauline Black, chef Angela Hartnett and boxer Lauren Price were among others who received awards.
