David Wilson Redrow South West has released a limited number of shared ownership homes at its Buckley Gardens development in Melksham, giving buyers the chance to step onto the property ladder with just a 5% deposit.
The two and three-bedroom homes are available through the Home Reach Shared Ownership scheme, which allows buyers to purchase up to 75% of a property while paying rent on the remainder. Over time, owners can increase their share through ‘staircasing’, eventually owning their home outright.
Two properties are now available under the scheme:
-
Oakmoor (2-bed) – £145,000 for a 50% share
-
Birchmoor (3-bed) – £170,000 for a 50% share
(Eligibility criteria apply. Buyers should speak to the sales adviser at Buckley Gardens for details.)
Louise Ware, Sales Director for David Wilson Redrow South West, said:
“Our aim is to make home ownership more achievable, helping buyers get started with just a five per cent deposit. This scheme offers flexibility – whether buyers want to increase their share over time or move on when it suits them, without the need to purchase the full property upfront.”
Alongside lower purchase costs, homes at Buckley Gardens are designed with energy efficiency and sustainability in mind. Government figures show that 85% of new builds in England and Wales achieve an EPC rating of A or B, with homes at Buckley Gardens estimated to save owners up to £2,200 a year on running costs, making them 63% cheaper to run than older properties.
Energy-saving features include:
-
Energy-efficient boilers that recycle heat
-
Systems that reuse warmth from bath and shower water
-
Solar panels for renewable energy
-
Modern ventilation reducing condensation and damp
-
High-performance double glazing & insulation
-
Electric vehicle charging points
