The 75th anniversary of VE Day is being marked all around the Swindon area this weekend, with Swindon Borough Council urging Swindonians to follow lockdown advice and celebrate in their homes.
While all public gatherings have been cancelled as part of measures to halt the spread of coronavirus, is has been left to Swindonians to organise their own celebrations.
Many streets are hosting ‘self-isolation’ VE Day parties from the safety of their front gardens whilst others have decorated their homes for the occasion.
