Parents of Year 7 students, set to embark on their secondary school journey in September 2024, are urged to take prompt action in securing their child’s place at their chosen school.
While parents of children due to start primary and junior schools in 2024 have until the 15th of January 2024 to submit their applications, the deadline for secondary school applications is swiftly approaching on the 31st of October 2023.
How to Apply: To streamline the process, applications for secondary school placements can be submitted online through the Swindon Borough Council website: www.swindon.gov.uk/schoolplaces.
Regardless of whether parents wish their child to attend a school outside their local area, the application should be routed through the Swindon Borough Council application process.
Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND): For parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) the Education, Health, and Care plan will outline the designated school, ensuring that the child is guaranteed a place.
Come 1st March, 2024, the eagerly anticipated offer day will reveal the allocated secondary school places for children starting Year 7 across Swindon.
Applying for a school place after the deadline means your application won’t be considered until after the initial round of offers is made in March.
This means your child is less likely to get a place at your preferred school. However, your child can still be added to the waiting list of the school you want.
