A recent study by Nesta found that households can save around £87 a year just by dialling down the heating flow temperature on their condensing combi boiler to between 55°C and 60°C.
The Heating Hub has released a step by step guide on how to do this.
To be clear, this is different to turning down your thermostat. But, turning down the room thermostat, if you have one, by 1°C can save you up to 10 per cent on your energy bills. The recommended room temperature for living areas is 18°C to 21°C.
If you don’t have a room thermostat you may have Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) on your radiators. You can turn these down by one click at a time, so you’re not unnecessarily heating rooms you don’t often use.
