Cuts to Fire Services in Dorset and Wiltshire leave the local service £6.8m underfunded compared to 2015, a 33% drop in funding.
Labour Candidate for South Swindon, Sarah Church, said this regarding that statistic, “It seems timely on Bonfire Night to remember how heavily we rely on our Fire Services to keep us safe.
In October alone, our local firefighters attended multiple vehicle and domestic fires, and several serious car accidents. We all sleep safely in our beds hoping that our firefighters have the personnel and resources they need to respond to any incident.
It is extremely worrying to see by how much the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service has been cut since 2015- by one third!
I’m looking forward to Labour putting public services back at the top of the priority list again, after nearly a decade of punishing cuts.”
