Santa Claus has assured children across Swindon and Wiltshire that modern homes without chimneys won’t stop him from delivering presents this Christmas.
The big man recently held discussions with Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, one of the county’s leading housebuilders, to address concerns from little ones living in new builds.
The issue? The absence of traditional chimneys in the company’s modern, energy-efficient homes. But, after a site visit and a meeting with the construction team, Santa has confirmed that Christmas will proceed as planned.
“Barratt David Wilson Homes South West’s ho-ho-homes are wonderful,” Santa said with a twinkle in his eye. “But I wanted to make sure I could still deliver presents to properties without chimneys. After speaking to the team, I’m pleased to confirm that a special plan is in place. The children of Wiltshire can sleep soundly on Christmas Eve, knowing I’ll be there – as long as they’re on the good list, of course!”
Mark Hughes, construction director at Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, said the visit left Santa feeling confident. “Although our modern homes are chimney-free, we’ve reassured Santa that there are several ‘top secret’ ways he can gain access. It’s all sorted, and we’re thrilled to have helped ensure every child in Wiltshire wakes up to a magical Christmas morning.”
Barratt David Wilson Homes South West is currently building new homes across Wiltshire, including Buckley Gardens in Melksham, Orchards Rise at Wichelstowe, and Honeymans Helm near Highworth. Early 2025 will see the launch of new homes and apartments at Canalside, Wichelstowe.
For now, though, Santa has returned to the North Pole, delighted that every child in Wiltshire, whether living in a traditional home or a modern build, will find their presents waiting for them on Christmas morning.
