Rumours appear to be circulating on social media and WhatsApp that Swindon Borough Council are drawing up plans to place the town under a local lockdown as early as this Friday.
A spokesperson from the council have this afternoon confirmed to The Swindonian that there are no plans to do so and that the rumours are untrue saying: “I’m pleased to say the rumours are completely untrue.
“I can confirm with 100% certainty that there are no such plans.”
Latest figures from Public Health England confirm there have been a total of 929 positive cases in Swindon since the start of the pandemic.
