Rotary Club Donation Boosts Support for Domestic Abuse Victims in Swindon

A £5,000 donation from Rotary Club of Swindon will give vital backing to the work of Society Without Abuse (SWA), helping people across the town rebuild their lives after domestic abuse.

The cheque was handed over following the club’s Annual Charity Ball, a long-standing fixture on Swindon’s social calendar. Over the past 35 years, this event alone has raised more than £1 million for local causes, making a tangible difference to numerous charities across the area.

This latest donation will go straight into SWA’s specialist programmes, which focus on breaking the cycle of domestic abuse through education, prevention and early intervention. The charity works quietly but effectively to offer a lifeline to those who have experienced trauma and need guidance, practical help and a safe space to recover.

Kate Rowland, CEO of SWA, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Rotary Club of Swindon for this donation. It will make a real difference to people in Swindon who have suffered domestic abuse. Support like this means we can continue to be there for them at the hardest of times. It shows what can be achieved when a community stands together.”

Rotary’s ethos of helping others remains firmly at the heart of its work, and the Swindon club continues to support charities that make a difference on the ground.

Jeremy Holt of Rotary Club of Swindon added: “This is a marriage made in heaven. Rotary is delighted to use money raised at a happy social occasion towards the absolutely vital work that SWA does day in and day out.”
