A consultation has been launched by NHS England on plans to close the local pharmacy on Rodbourne Road and transfer all services to the pharmacy on Park Lane.
It is understood the decision to merge the two pharmacies is due to low customer footfall and retail sales at the Rodbourne Road pharmacy.
Local Councillors Kevin Small, Steph Exell and Jim Robins are against the idea and said in a joint statement: ‘We believe that this is a bad decision for Rodbourne residents as the route for residents is narrow and not fully accessible and there is very limited parking available at Park Lane pharmacy.’
‘The best outcome would be to keep both Pharmacies open supporting their local residents.’
An online petition has been launched urging the pharmacy operators, L Rowland & Co to keep both sites open. You can sign the petition here.
