Royal Wootton Bassett residents were shocked this morning at the damage to the Remembrance Day Poppy which occurred overnight.
Initial reports of the memorial being vandalised were proven untrue after police investigated and viewed the CCTV provided by Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council and can confirm that there has been no crime.
As you can see from the CCTV footage there was a catastrophic structural failure at 04:47 this morning.
The council are now in full swing making the area safe until this time please keep away from the area and do not approach the statue.
