Swindon residents are being invited to share their views on how the town’s country parks should be improved as part of a new strategy being developed by Swindon Borough Council.
The Council has appointed environmental consultants, led by The Environment Partnership, to advise on how Swindon’s country parks can be enhanced and maintained for the future.
To help shape the plan, the Council has launched a series of surveys asking visitors for feedback on how they use the parks, what they enjoy most, and what improvements they would like to see.
Posters featuring QR codes have been placed at Coate Water, Stanton Park, Lydiard Park, Barbury Castle and Mouldon Hill, allowing visitors to take part while on site. The surveys are also available via the Council’s website.
Alongside public responses, feedback will also be gathered from park volunteers, friends groups, and other stakeholders.
Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Planning, said the consultation would help the Council better understand how residents value and use Swindon’s green spaces.
“Swindon has some amazing green spaces, much loved by residents. They are important for people’s wellbeing and health as well as being a joy in themselves, and we want to make sure we have a solid plan for how we keep and improve them for future generations,” she said.
“If you’ve visited the parks recently, please fill in the surveys and tell us about your experiences and what you’d like to see more of, so any changes reflect what residents really want and need.”
The Council said the feedback will help fill a current gap in data on visitor numbers, habits, and priorities for Swindon’s parks.
The surveys will close on 31 October, after which the responses will be analysed to help shape the new Country Parks Strategy, expected to be published early next year.
