Residents in the Rodbourne area, next to the Designer Outlet, have expressed frustration as Wiltshire Police seemingly turn a blind eye to ongoing traffic concerns. The discontent is heightened by the noticeable contrast in police attention, with authorities celebrating their policing efforts on the one-way road at Clack Hill.
For years, residents have raised their voices about the escalating issue of vehicles speeding through the short stretch of one-way road leading onto Rodbourne Road, particularly during peak hours. Despite the daily evidence of this traffic hazard, residents feel their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
The Swindonian, sought clarification from Wiltshire Police regarding their prioritisation of Clack Hill over the Rodbourne area with residents wondering why the police celebrate their success in managing the one-way road at Clack Hill while seemingly ignoring the persistent challenges faced by those living near the Designer Outlet.
Adding his support to the residents please, Leader of Swindon Borough COuncil, Jim Robbins said “I really hope that we can work with the Police to get a similar response to the issues faced in Rodbourne over Linslade St.
“We are very keen to find solutions to problems such as these, and the Highways team have been proactively meeting with Councillors to ensure issues in their areas are being looked at. I’ll be making sure that this is on the agenda for the next meeting with Mannington & Western Councillors and that options such as CCTV are looked at.”
The residential area near Rodbourne, heavily frequented by schoolchildren on their way to and from school, remains a source of ongoing concern for safety, prompting the community to demand transparency and a reevaluation of policing priorities.
Since this post has gone live we have received a response from Wiltshire Police saying ‘We routinely monitor roads throughout our force area and encourage members of the public to report any concerns Report a road traffic incident | Wiltshire Police
‘This helps us determine where best to focus our resources.
