Remember someone special with local hospice’s ‘Remember Me’ roses

Coming together to commemorate the lives of our departed loved ones can be a challenging and solitary experience. However, a local charity is offering an opportunity to unite and pay tribute to those we have lost through a never-before-seen temporary art installation.

Prospect Hospice will be hosting the ‘Remember Me’ roses art installation in their gardens this September.

This event aims to celebrate the lives and honor the memories of individuals who have passed away. The charity extends an invitation to anyone in the community who wishes to be part of this initiative.

By making a donation to the hospice, individuals can dedicate a beautiful rose handcrafted from recycled metal to the person they wish to honor. Each limited edition rose, available in a variety of four colors, will bear the name of the individual being remembered. The roses will be exhibited in the hospice’s gardens during the charity’s garden fete on Saturday, September 9th, and will remain on display throughout the month. Afterward, they can be collected and placed in a location of personal choice.

The ‘Remember Me’ roses offer a perfect way to cherish the memory of someone special while supporting the invaluable work of Prospect Hospice. All funds raised through this campaign will contribute to providing specialised end-of-life care for those in need.

Sinéad Nolan-Martin, whose husband Harry received care from the hospice, has already dedicated a rose in his memory, which will be part of the display. She shared, “Harry touched many hearts. Our time together was short, but our love and memories are everlasting. He inspired beauty and remains the reason I am grateful for life. Though I miss my sweet husband constantly, he is with me in every way I honor his remarkable life.”

“That’s why I am dedicating a yellow rose to him as part of Prospect Hospice’s ‘Remember Me’ roses art display. To us, yellow symbolises hope, joy, and peace; it was our wedding theme. This perfect keepsake allows me to donate to a charity that supported us through our darkest days and continues to support others like us.”

Carolyn Bell, director of patient services, expressed, “Every year, we provide support to many members of our community who are grieving the loss of someone dear to them. Often, they seek a small yet significant way to remember their loved ones. Additionally, coming together in a supportive environment to commemorate those we’ve lost can provide solace as we share our thoughts, feelings, and experiences with others.”

“Our ‘Remember Me’ roses community art installation offers an opportunity for everyone in our community to gather and celebrate the lives of those no longer with us. Regardless of whether the person received care from the hospice, the recency of their passing, or the duration since their departure, all are welcome to participate in this exhibition of remembrance.”

Reflecting on the impact of the installation on the charity, Bell added, “We are incredibly grateful for the support of everyone involved in this new installation. The funds raised will enable the hospice to provide care for individuals in our community living with terminal illnesses and offer support to those left behind.”
