The annual Wrag Barn Charity Golf Day in Highworth, sponsored by Haines Watts, has achieved a remarkable milestone by raising a record-breaking £14,652 for Hft, a charity dedicated to supporting learning disabled adults.
The event, which took place on 24 May, saw nearly 80 golfers take part in an 18-hole course, enjoy a brunch provided by Wrag Barn Golf Club, and participate in an auction and raffle, all in aid of the learning disability charity.
This year’s fundraising total marks the highest amount raised in the golf day’s 34-year history. The funds will contribute to core projects such as care matters, support practitioners, and Hft’s friendship service, Luv2MeetU.
Martin Gurney, Partner at Haines Watts, expressed his support for the charity’s mission and values, saying, “The charity’s dedication to the people it supports is admirable, and we are glad we can partner with them and Wrag Barn to truly make a difference.”
Tim Manners, owner of Wrag Barn, thanked everyone for their contributions to the day’s success, acknowledging the loyal following who participate every year and the hard work of Wrag Barn members Ros and Christopher Cliff, as well as auctioneer Scott Talbert. Manners shared a personal connection to the charity, as his sister Caroline received wonderful support from Hft, enabling her to live her best life.
Emma Macdonald, Community Fundraising Manager at Hft, extended her heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the 34th Wrag Barn Golf Day, the sponsors Haines Watts, and Wrag Barn Golf Club for their unwavering support. She emphasised that this incredible support helps create a future where learning disabled people can live the best life possible in a kind and inclusive community.
