Following the event, Chief Constable Kier Pritchard said: “This very special night gave me the chance to recognise and reward the hard work and dedication of our fantastic officers and staff as well as some valiant members of the public.

“As my first awards ceremony as Chief Constable, I was delighted to be able to take part in this wonderful evening.

“We are a service of people serving the public and it is right that we take a moment to support, thank and pay tribute to those who have been given these awards.

“I am continually impressed by every single person who attend these ceremonies and tonight was no exception.

“Every week I receive feedback from the general public full of praise for the dedication and meticulous, caring and courageous hard work my officers and staff do – they are the people who run towards danger while others are running away.  They are all truly inspirational.

“With the recent events in the south of the county this is a timely reminder that I serve with some very talented, brave and outstanding professionals of whom I am, very proud – thank you for all your efforts in helping to keep Wiltshire safe.”

Angus Macpherson, Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, said: “As recent events have highlighted, day in and day out our officers, staff and volunteers selflessly run in potentially dangerous situations in order to keep the public safe.

“Their bravery and dedication never ceases to amaze me and I could not be prouder of the people that work in our Force and keep our communities safe.

“This ceremony has also recognised some members of the public who have gone above and beyond when they’ve seen others in need of help and I sincerely thank them for their courage.

“Everyone recognised in these awards are an absolute credit to our Force and our county.”
