Quarry Road play area to benefit from new play equipment

South Swindon Parish Council will be installing new play equipment at Quarry Road Play Area from the 3rd May.

As part of the parish council’s Play Area Improvement programme, 12 of the 21 play areas the council manages have already been refurbished and work on Quarry Road has already started with the installation of a new springer.

Earlier this year Parish Councillors also agreed for the old climbing structure to be removed due to being beyond repair with a brand-new activity centre replacing it. In addition, a new basket swing is going to be installed which will be particularly accessible to children with disabilities.

The Play Area Improvement programme aims to introduce better equipment to the council run play areas whilst at the same time making them more accessible to children with disabilities.

Parish Councillor Neil Hopkins said: “We are absolutely delighted that Quarry Road Play Area is getting new play equipment. Old Town Parish Councillors have been pressing for a long time to improve the play area at this site. This project is crucial for our drive to maintain the standards we have set across all our play areas in South Swindon.”
