Ahead of the last weekend before Christmas, Wiltshire Police is asking people in Swindon to be mindful when they are out.
They are anticipating a busy weekend in Swindon both during the day with shoppers and in the evening with those enjoying a night out with friends and family during the festive period.
As part of Op Dasher, high visibility policing operation will operate across the town centre and out of town shopping locations and will be undertaken by the Neighbourhood Policing Teams focussing on the day-time economy and extended late-night business opening hours.
They will also be supporting retail, hospitality and transport staff in engaging with the public around the ongoing Covid-19 guidance and rules on face coverings.
If you are heading out to enjoy a drink with friends or family, please make arrangements to get home safely.
Our drink and drug drive campaign continue to run, targeting those getting behind the wheel of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, whether that be on a night out or the next day.
They also continue to work with partner agencies and licensed premises on tackling offences linked to the night-time economy, such as drink spiking.
It is important that if you believe you have been the victim of having your drink spiked, that you report it so we can investigate, spot any patterns of behaviour and act on it to prevent it.
You can also report any suspicious incidents, people drink or drug driving or concerns about drink spiking by calling 101 or online here – Report a crime | Wiltshire Police. Always call 999 in an emergency.
Finally, they would ask that you be kind. This can be a stressful time of the year for many with a lot of pressures, so don’t let emotions spill over into something criminal that you may regret.
