Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, was welcomed with three cheers by a Swindon community that organised a street party to celebrate King Charles’ coronation.
The Princess Royal and Sir Tim were received and greeted by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton, at the special celebration and were introduced to local dignitaries including the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Mr Pradeep Bhardwaj and The Mayor of Swindon, Councillor Abdul Amin.
“Very nice to see you,” Princess Anne said to one local as she arrived.

Princess Anne engaged in conversations with locals in Belmont Crescent before handing out special commemorative coronation tins with old coins to the local children commenting “Don’t put them all on eBay at once!.”
Talking about the Royal visit, Mayor of Swindon, Councillor Abdul Amin, said: “We were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness to Swindon on such a momentous occasion for the country.
“The surprise on the faces of all those present when they saw the Royal visitors was something to behold and provided memories which will be treasured for years to come. I am immensely proud that Swindon has its own unique link to the Coronation on this historic weekend to celebrate our new King.”
The Princess Royal’s visit to Swindon was one of a number of Royal visitors to street parties with The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex, attending a street party in Cranleigh, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie attending a Big Lunch in Windsor.

The visit came shortly after Buckingham Palace shared the King and Queen’s appreciation for the overwhelming support received during the Coronation festivities with a Buckingham Palace spokesman saying the couple were “deeply touched by the events of yesterday” and “profoundly grateful both to all those who helped to make it such a glorious occasion – and to the very many who turned out to show their support in such numbers in London and further afield”.
