Primark will close all its UK stores from Sunday night as people continue to adapt to social-distancing during the coronavirus pandemic and stop visiting the high street.
Primark join many other big names that will not be opening their stores such as Topman, River Island and New Look however unlike these other retailers Primark have no online presence to allow customers to continue shopping during the shutdown.
With the UK government announcing earlier in the week that it will pay the wages of employees unable to work due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is hoped people’s jobs will be protected during the closure.
It will pay 80% of salary for staff who are kept on by their employer, covering wages of up to £2,500 a month.
