Primark has issued a nationwide product recall on a Disney Winnie the Pooh plate over fears it could be harmful to kids after higher than normal chemical levels were detected.
The high-street retailer recalled the Winnie the Pooh Plate item after it was ‘found to release traces of Lead and Formaldehyde higher than the EU regulation permitted levels’ – this means it pose a risk to children if ingested.
The item has been on sale in UK stores since January. In an online statement, Primark said: “It has come to our attention that the Primark children’s dining product “Winnie the Pooh Plate”, which is pictured above, does not meet the Primark usual high standards for safety.
According to the NHS website lead poisoning can cause abdominal pain, vomiting and constipation, as well as developmental delays and learning difficulties in children.
Formaldehyde can cause nausea, headaches, dizziness and hormone issues.
