Popular Village Show enters 90th year

The Wanborough Village & Country Show, which is popular with local residents and visitors alike, will take place on Saturday 20th August in what will be its 90th year!

The show ground, just a few miles from the centre of Swindon, will open at 12pm and promises to be a real family affair with so many activities for children and adults alike.

This years entertainment is headlined by ‘Pedal Power vs Parkour’ which is the only show of its kind in the UK and combines the incredible skill, balance and power of a trials rider and the finesse of a gymnast / parkour athlete and is sure to be hugely popular.

There are also going to be plenty of free activities to entertain families, including a climbing wall, last man standing and there will also be free to enter children’s games in the main arena.

Other attractions include a gun dog display by the talented Nick Gregory, a fairground, beer tent, and the ever popular vintage vehicle display which has become a staple of the show over the years.

2022 also sees the return of the consistently popular Wanborough Companion Dog Show. The show, which includes four Pedigree Classes along with ten Novelty Classes has something to suit all abilities. Whether you are a dog show veteran or a complete beginner, the companion dog show is always a fun experience and, if you are lucky, your dog may even walk away with a beautiful rosette.

The show, which is organised and run by a committee of local volunteers, is a not-for-profit event, all money raised is used to cover the costs of running the show and any surplus funds are distributed to local organisations and worthy causes.

Sue Ripley, Show Chairman said “Wanborough is hugely proud of the village and country show and, after a couple of difficult years with Covid, we are hoping this years event will be the biggest yet. We are hoping visitors will enjoy the show for many years to come and we really urge the local community to continue to support the show.”

Wanborough is currently being impacted by roadworks and road closures and the show committee are hoping that this does not impact on visitor numbers.

Sue continued, “we have had many hours of discussions with various people and have implemented a number of new measures at the show field to ensure that visitors are not impacted by delays caused by roadworks and road closures located around the village.”

Wanborough Village & Country Show takes place at Church Meadow in Wanborough on 20th August 2022 12pm – 5pm.
