A total of 96 motoring offences were detected by officers conducting Project Zero patrols in Royal Wootton Bassett and surrounding villages this week.
Project Zero is a roads policing operation held every Wednesday at a different location in the county. It sees officers targeting drivers committing any of the fatal five offences in a bid to reduce the number of casualties on our roads.
This week, officers also combined Project Zero patrols with Operation Tramline – a joint initiative between National Highways and NRPOI (National Roads Policing Operations And Intelligence), which involves an unmarked HGV patrolling the M4
A/Insp Will Ayres said: “During the day, a total of 96 motoring offences were detected, which ranged from speeding, failure to wear seat belts and using mobile phones whilst driving as well as vehicles with insecure loads.
“The speed enforcement team visited four different locations to conduct speed checks following concerns raised by the community, including areas in Cricklade, Charlton and Little Somerford. A driver in Little Somerford was caught driving at 48mph in a 30mph limit.”
Project Zero will be at a different location in the county next Wednesday.
