In a dramatic turn of events, a white Ford Transit van led police on a high-speed chase through Swindon earlier today.
The pursuit unfolded shortly after 1pm when officers attempted to stop the van on Marlborough Road. However, the driver failed to stop and accelerated away at speed.
During the pursuit, which extended along Marlborough Road and towards Dorcan Way, the driver brazenly disregarded red lights and keep-left signs and finally stopped at Snodshill roundabout, where the driver hastily abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot towards Liden.
Police swiftly apprehended a male suspect in his 30s, who was subsequently arrested on several charges including suspicion of driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis, and driving under the influence of drugs.
The arrested individual is currently being held in custody at Gablecross, where police will conduct further questioning.
Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the pursuit or possesses dash cam footage to come forward.
