Police Launch Investigation After Knife Attack in May Close

Police have launched an investigation following a violent incident in May Close, Swindon, which left a man in his 40s wounded after being attacked with a knife outside his own home.

The assault occurred late on Tuesday evening, 3rd June, between 11.25pm and 11.50pm. According to Wiltshire Police, the victim was approached by three individuals riding mopeds, who demanded his belongings.

When the man attempted to flee, the suspects reportedly subjected him to racial abuse before pursuing him to the front of his property, where he was assaulted with a knife. Despite suffering knife wounds, the victim’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The suspects—described as white males, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas—fled the scene without taking any possessions. The attack has been taken on by Swindon CID, who set up a cordon in the area for initial enquiries. That cordon has now been lifted.

Detective Sergeant Craig Rathbone from Swindon CID said: “We appreciate the concern this kind of incident causes locally and we’re treating it with the seriousness it warrants. This level of violence, especially involving a weapon and racial abuse, has no place in our town.

Police confirmed that several witnesses were in the area at the time of the attack and are urging anyone not yet spoken to by officers to come forward.
