Police have disrupted a planned car meet in the Swindon area after complaints about anti-social behaviour and dangerous driving
On Sunday, officers working under Operation Staysail and Gloucestershire Police prevented a large disruptive car meet in Swindon.
Posting on social media police said 11 road closures were used ensuring that those intent on causing distress to local residents and danger to other road users were unable to do so.
Sgt Joel Coombes said “Op Staysail is not focused on car enthusiasts meeting peacefully and lawfully, but we will not tolerate disruptive car meets which cause serious distress and danger.
“We will use all powers available to us to proactively disrupt these and prosecute offenders.”
Car meets have also taken place at other locations throughout town in the past few months, including many supermarket car parks.
