Police are urgently trying to trace a woman believed to be the victim of an assault at the McDonald’s restaurant in Greenbridge Retail Park, Swindon, which took place during the late afternoon on Thursday.
At approximately 4pm on 1st August, Wiltshire Police received a call reporting that a man had physically assaulted a woman inside the busy fast-food branch. Before officers could reach the scene, the suspect fled the premises.
Thanks to the swift actions of a member of the public, the 32-year-old man was located nearby and promptly arrested on suspicion of assault by beating. He is currently in custody and is being questioned by officers.
However, by the time police arrived at the Greenbridge McDonald’s, the woman believed to have been assaulted had already left. Her identity remains unknown at this stage, prompting officers to issue a public appeal in an effort to progress their investigation.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are urging the woman involved in this incident to come forward as soon as possible. Your account is crucial to assist us in building a clear picture of what took place. We understand incidents of this nature can be traumatic, but support is available.”
The police are keen to reassure anyone who may have concerns about coming forward, stressing that any information will be handled with care and confidentiality.
If you are the person involved, or if you have any relevant information, you are urged to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 227 of 1st August.
