Police appeal for witnesses after dog walker attacked by large dog in Penhill

Police are seeking witnesses to a dog attack that took place in Penhill.

The incident occurred on Thursday night on Shrewton Walk and involved a woman and her dog being attacked by a larger dog. Authorities believe there were other individuals walking their dogs in the vicinity, as well as a delivery driver who came to assist.

According to reports, at approximately 8:45 pm on Thursday 18th May, the woman was walking her dog when they were approached by two unleashed dogs without an owner present. One of the dogs, described as a brown/black Chow Chow with long, spiky fur, launched an unprovoked attack on the woman’s dog, causing an injury to its back. In her attempt to protect her dog, the woman also sustained an injury to her hand.

PC Zoe Johnson expressed concern over the incident, describing it as a frightening and unprovoked attack that occurred in a busy area. While the dog’s injuries appear to be minor, the woman required hospital treatment for her hand injury.

The police are particularly interested in hearing from other dog walkers who may have witnessed the attack. They are urging anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward. Additionally, they are seeking the delivery driver who came to the aid of the dog walker.
