Police act on community intelligence to disrupt drug activity in Swindon

Police in Swindon have been acting on community intelligence with the aim of disrupting drug activity in the town.

Between 15th and 18th October, officers from the South Swindon Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a number of Misuse of Drugs warrants in the Parks and Walcot areas.

This followed information from members of the public about concern about drug dealing at various addresses.

One address is now subject to a partial Closure Order, which prohibits anyone other than the registered occupants from being at the property.

Two men, aged 48 and 36-year were arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. They have since been released under investigation whilst police enquiries continue.

PC Whettam said: “Firstly, we would like to thank the members of the public for reporting their concerns to us, so we could take the appropriate action.

“These warrant are a direct result of these reports, with that information developed by officers so we could apply to the courts for these warrants.

“We would continue to urge anyone who has concerns about drug dealing in their local community to report it to us.”
