In his national address yesterday, the Prime Minister announced plans for a staggered return to the classroom, starting with reception children, in June.
A petition has now been launched on Change.org demanding that parents are given a choice over whether to send children back to school in June or not.
Lucy Browne, who started it, said: ‘Many of us have lost confidence in the Government’s handling of this crisis and feel it is too early to return children to schools.
‘As a mum I don’t want to face serious repercussions for making a choice I feel affects the safety of my daughter during a global pandemic.’
The petition has over 300,000 signatures and is one of the fastest growing petitions currently live on Change.org UK.
