People hurt as car crashed into crowd at Hawksworth car meet

Police have confirmed they were called to reports of a large car meet at the Hawksworth Industrial estate, Swindon just before 7.30pm yesterday evening.
The gathering reportedly involved around 100 cars and 500 people.
One of the vehicles hit a group of pedestrians, causing injuries thought to be serious to at least one person, but not thought to be life-threatening.
Detective Chief Superintendent said: “My officers attending were greeted with hostility with the tyres on one police vehicle being damaged and an unknown substance being sprayed onto officers.
“Wiltshire Police is working with partner agencies such as Swindon Borough Council and the landowners in order to reduce future car meets.
“We will also be reviewing video footage of the meet and will be looking to deal with any offences or offenders that are identified.”
