Orchid Care Home in Swindon Earns Outstanding Rating from CQC

Orchid Care Home in Swindon has achieved an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection in August, marking a significant improvement from its previous good rating. The home, which provides nursing and personal care for up to 83 older people, is run by Angel Care (Orchid Care Homes) Ltd.

The latest inspection results revealed notable improvements across several areas, particularly in leadership and the caring approach. The overall rating of the home was raised from good to outstanding, while the leadership rating went from requires improvement to outstanding. The caring category also improved, moving from good to outstanding. However, the inspection focused on areas like leadership, safety, and care, while the ratings for effectiveness and responsiveness remained unchanged at good.

Neil Cox, the CQC deputy director of operations in the south, highlighted the exceptional service at Orchid Care Home: “When we inspected Orchid Care Home, we found a home which put people’s needs at its heart. Managers and staff went above and beyond to ensure people received the best possible care. People living at the home described them as attentive, friendly, and kind, with thoughtful gestures that promoted independence.”

The staff are well-trained in safeguarding, ensuring that residents are protected and cared for with dignity.
