Old Town Gym Set to Reopen After Fire

Anytime Fitness in Old Town, is preparing to reopen its doors following a fire that temporarily closed the popular gym earlier this year.

The blaze, which required the response of approximately 50 firefighters and 10 fire engines from across Swindon and surrounding areas, caused significant disruption to the gym’s operations.

Back in May, Crews from central Swindon, Westlea, Stratton, Royal Wootton Bassett, Marlborough, Chippenham, and Devizes worked tirelessly to contain the flames and ensure the safety of the lbuilding.

While the fire caused extensive damage to the roof area, the gym’s interior appears to have been spared the worst of it. Equipment near the windows shows little visible damage, suggesting that much of the facility’s infrastructure remained intact.

Back on Track for January 2025

A sign now displayed on the gym’s door has given members something to look forward to: a reopening date of 1st January 2025.

At the time of the fire, a spokesperson for Anytime Fitness issued the following statement: “Due to emergency circumstances, the club is shut for the foreseeable. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.”

Now, seven months later, members patience will soon be rewarded as the gym prepares to reopen just in time for those New Years Resolutions!
