Office workers taking a dim view this winter

The average Swindon office worker will get to see just 52 minutes of daylight each week through this winter according to research.

A ‘Get More Vitamin Drinks’ poll claims that around eight out of every ten office workers will not be taking a lunch break outside of the office as they find it too cold and depressing.

With staff arriving and leaving the office in the dark nine out of every ten workers could get through the winter months without even a glimpse of sunlight!

How else will a lack of sunshine affect us…

We are all aware that too much sun may cause cancer, well did you know a lack of sunlight has also been linked to certain cancers! A Vitamin D deficiency can lead to the development of prostate and breast cancer.

Vitamin D deficiencies in men caused by not enough sunlight has also linked to the onset of heart disease.

Women are 200% more likely to suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). The less sunlight we see through the winter, the more likely we are to develop SAD with symptoms such as mood swings, anxiety, sleep problems, or even suicidal thoughts.

Our suggestion to you is make sure you take that lunch break and get outdoors, OK it is highly unlikely you are going to see much sun but what the hell, you deserve a break every now and then, why not go in search of the sun as an excuse to get away from your desk.
