NS&I has just announced the fortunate winners of the Premium Bonds prize draw for October 2023. This month’s jackpot smiles upon individuals from Greater Manchester and West Scotland.
The first winner, hailing from Greater Manchester, holds the maximum £50,000 in Premium Bonds and acquired the winning bond in October 2016.
The second winner, also with a £50,000 Premium Bonds investment, purchased the winning bond in September 2009.
With a substantial prize fund exceeding £470 million this month, over 5.7 million prizes were up for grabs. NS&I elevated the Premium Bonds prize fund last month to an impressive 4.65 percent, reaching its highest level since March 1999.
The odds of winning a prize in the Premium Bonds prize draw increased to 21,000 to one, from the previous 22,000 to one, marking the most favourable odds since April 2008.
NS&I keeps the Premium Bonds prize checker updated on the NS&I website, the Premium Bonds prize checker app, and through Amazon Alexa. The tool is typically refreshed the day after the initial working day of each month.
Talking about the increase in the prize pot, NS&I Chief Executive Dax Harkins said, “These upcoming increases show that we’re supporting savers up and down the country.
“Premium Bonds are one of the nation’s favourite savings products, so increasing the prize fund rate to its best level since 1999 and improving the odds means that more people will have the chance to win prizes each month.
“These rate increases will help ensure that our savings products remain attractive to customers, whilst ensuring that we continue to balance the needs of savers, taxpayers, and the broader financial services sector.”
