Children from Noremarsh Junior have played a pivotal role in shaping a new play area at their school thanks to a collaboration with Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council.
The project, which centred on designing a ‘Trim Trail’ play area, saw the children in the school’s council involved in evaluating three potential designs.

During the process, the children assessed factors such as durability and inclusivity, ultimately selecting the third option. This design ensures accessibility for children of all ages and abilities, reflecting the importance of creating spaces for everyone to enjoy.
At the official opening event representatives from the design and build team, and school staff came together to celebrate the launch. The excitement was evident as members of the school council had the first chance to test out the equipment.
Hilary MacMeekin, Headteacher of Noremarsh Junior School, expressed her delight at the children’s involvement: “We are incredibly grateful that the children were involved in designing a play area. Our children have worked closely with the town council in previous designs at the park, so it is great to be asked again.”
The Town Council has invited the wider community to visit Noremarsh Park and experience the new play area for themselves.
