Professor Stephen Powis, NHS medical director, said, “It is truly incredible that in just one day the NHS covid vaccination programme has delivered a record 807,047 doses including 739,867 top-up jabs.
“Behind this big number is an even bigger effort from NHS staff and volunteers at thousands of vaccination sites across the country – day in day out they are continuing to go above and beyond, with almost three-quarters of a million boosters delivered yesterday.
“We continue to see hundreds of thousands of people come forward for their booster every day, giving them and their loved ones the maximum protection from the new variant which is rapidly increasing and so the message from the NHS is – please don’t wait around – get boosted now.”
