New Willowbrook View Care Home Welcomes Wichelstowe Community with Halloween Pumpkin Hunt

Willowbrook View, a luxury care home set to open in January 2025, hosted a Halloween celebration that brought residents together for a weekend of pumpkin carving, fun, and festive activities. The team from Willowbrook View, led by Customer Relationship Manager Christopher Guest, organised a lively community pumpkin hunt followed by a carving competition at three designated “Pumpkin Party Trick & Treat” stations.

The event, designed to create a sense of unity and excitement around the new facility, offered refreshments, games, and Halloween-themed activities for families of all ages, along with the chance to meet the Willowbrook View staff. The new care home, which is situated within the heart of the Wichelstowe development, aims to be an active and supportive presence within Swindon from day one, connecting with its new neighbours even before its official opening.

Christopher Guest expressed Willowbrook’s commitment to fostering community connections: “For us, establishing Willowbrook View means more than just offering quality care. We want to build lasting relationships with our neighbours so that our residents feel at home in the area from the moment they arrive. In the lead-up to January, we’ll be looking to strengthen these community ties so that we’re ready to support the local area when we open.”

Proceeds from the event will be donated to The Stowe Church, located on nearby Staldon Street, where funds will go towards supporting community events year-round. The Halloween festivities were also supported by local partners, including Waitrose and Wichelstowe’s housing developers, reflecting a collective interest in making Willowbrook View a vibrant part of the community.

Dixie Benain-Ramsay, a resident of the new development who joined the event, remarked on the positive impact of Willowbrook’s presence: “It’s been wonderful to see everyone coming together today, and the Willowbrook team have made us all feel welcome. Having a care home here brings reassurance to families, and I know the children especially will enjoy seeing the residents involved in events and activities.”

Looking ahead, Willowbrook View has several community events planned for November and December. Among these are “open-dining” experiences, allowing local residents to sample the home’s culinary offerings, and a community garden planting initiative in partnership with a local school. Willowbrook View’s mission to support both its residents and the surrounding area signals its commitment to going beyond traditional care services.

“Our aim is to create a place where our residents, families, and the wider Wichelstowe community feel connected,” Guest said. “Willowbrook View will be more than just a care facility – it’ll be a place that brings people together. This weekend’s pumpkin carving event was just the beginning.”

Willowbrook View, located on Barwell Avenue in Wichelstowe, will officially open its doors in January 2025, with a grand launch event to mark the occasion. Those interested in attending can RSVP by emailing christopher.guest@willowbrookview.co.uk or by calling 01793 387950.
