The Park Academies Trust has announced the appointment of Jon Young as the new Executive Principal of The Deanery Academy, effective from September 2024. Mr Young, who currently serves as Principal at Abbey Park School, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role, where he will oversee both institutions.
Under Mr Young’s stewardship, Abbey Park School has achieved its highest exam results to date and received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted in January 2023. His tenure has been marked by strong collaboration with feeder primary schools and the successful implementation of transition programmes, notably with Red Oaks Primary.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Jon Young commented, “I am honoured to take on the role of Executive Principal. Together, our schools can achieve even greater success, providing outstanding education for all our students. The Park Academies Trust has a solid reputation for school improvement, and I look forward to meeting with staff, parents, carers, and pupils at The Deanery to discuss our collective aspirations.”
James Nicholson, Interim CEO of The Park Academies Trust, endorsed Mr Young’s appointment, highlighting his proven leadership and strategic vision. “Mr Young’s appointment signifies a pivotal moment for both schools,” Nicholson remarked. “His leadership will undoubtedly benefit our entire community, continuing the positive trajectory set by Abbey Park School within the Trust.”
Meanwhile, Kelly Osborne-James, the interim Headteacher at The Deanery, will conclude her tenure at the end of the current academic term. Reflecting on her time, Osborne-James noted, “It has been a privilege to lead The Deanery during this transformative period. Our staff and students eagerly anticipate the collaboration opportunities within The Park Academies Trust. We are excited to welcome Jon Young as our new Executive Principal, confident that his leadership will enhance our school’s development.”
The appointment of a new Head of School for The Deanery is anticipated in the upcoming academic year, marking another chapter in the school’s journey within the Trust.
