St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School has welcomed a new executive head this term, with experienced education leader Helen Biles Wood stepping into the role to help drive the school’s next chapter of growth and excellence.
Helen, who has held senior roles across Somerset and Wiltshire, joins the school from St Louis School in Frome – another member of the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust (DCET) – which was graded Good in all areas by Ofsted in January 2025. She now brings that expertise and momentum to St Edmund’s.
Her vision is clear: to recognise what makes every child unique, nurture their talents and empower them to become confident, responsible future citizens with strong moral and social values.
Helen said she is committed to creating an environment where every child feels valued and inspired.
“I am thrilled to join St Edmund’s and work alongside such a dedicated team. Every child has something extraordinary to offer, and I want to help them discover their strengths, be inspired by their learning, and leave us ready to make a positive difference in the world.”
The DCET leadership has also welcomed her appointment. CEO Helen Taylor said:
“We are delighted to welcome Helen Biles Wood to St Edmund’s. Her experience, vision and commitment to nurturing every child will be invaluable in guiding the school forward.”
Parents considering a school place for September 2026 are invited to meet Helen at the open day on 4 December at 9.30am. Tours can also be booked separately by calling 01249 813 821.
Helen’s arrival signals a renewed focus on high-quality education, character development and exceptional opportunities for pupils — ensuring St Edmund’s continues to help children grow, achieve and shine.
