Motor Fuel Group Opens State-of-the-Art EV Power Charging Hub on Marlborough Road, Swindon

Motor Fuel Group (MFG) – the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator – has officially opened its newest EV Power charging hub on Marlborough Road, Swindon (SN3 1NP).

As part of MFG’s nationwide investment of over £400 million to accelerate the UK’s transition to cleaner, greener transport, the company is installing around 20 new ultra-rapid charging bays every week, with an ambition to deploy 3,000 charging bays across the country in the coming years.

The new Marlborough Road EV hub features ultra-rapid chargers in a safe, well-lit, and easily accessible location, offering drivers reliability and convenience, alongside a modernised valeting area and upgraded retail facilities.

This development marks MFG’s fourth site in Swindon, two of which fall within the constituency of Heidi Alexander MP, including the company’s Fleming Way site (SN1 2NG).

Part of MFG’s national EV rollout, the Marlborough Road site underscores the company’s dual focus on supporting local communities and serving long-distance travellers, with accessible infrastructure that reflects evolving driver needs.

Martin Symes, EV Director at MFG, said:

“Whilst more and more of us are switching to EVs, petrol and diesel will remain important for many decades. That’s why we have a dual fuel strategy designed to support the UK economy today and in the future.

We’re proud to have now deployed over 1,000 ultra-rapid EV charging bays across the UK, operating around 12% of the UK’s ultra-rapid charging network.”

Heidi Alexander, MP for Swindon South, added:

“I am delighted to officially open Swindon’s latest EV charging facility on Marlborough Road. It was fascinating to hear from the Motor Fuel Group team about the changing needs of customers across their sites in my constituency and their investment in EV charging capacity.

I look forward to seeing their continued investment in Swindon and their contribution to our switch to lower-carbon transport.”
