Network Rail workers are to stage fresh strikes during November in the row over pay, jobs and working conditions, threatening fresh disruption to services.
Despite staff not yet voting on the new pay offer, it has been announced that members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) will strike on 3rd, 5th and 7th November.
Tim Shoveller, Network Rail’s chief negotiator, said: “A two-year 8% deal, with discounted travel and a new extended job guarantee to January 2025, is on the table ready to be put to our staff.
“Unfortunately, the leadership of the RMT seem intent on more damaging strikes rather than giving their members a vote on our offer.
“Me and my team remain available for serious talks and continue to negotiate in good faith.”
Staff turning up for work at Swindon station this morning were shocked to hear they will ‘be losing more money’ during strike days that they know nothing about and were confused about ‘not hearing anything about the new pay offer’ from their union.
