McDonald’s set to launch Happy Meals for adults

As a child, there was really no better treat than stopping at a McDonald’s and getting your hands on that little square red box. Forget the food, what toy would be inside?

Luckily for all the nostalgic grown ups, that’s about to change – if you live or are visiting the US that is – as McDonald’s are set to launch Happy Meals for an older generation.

Announcing the launch on Instagram, the collaboration between McDonald’s and streetwear brand The Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, is set launch in the US from tomorrow.

Your Holiday Starts Now

The adult-sized Happy Meals will include more filling menu options such as a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, as well as a drink and the all-important fries, but I know the thing you’re most interested in is the toy.

The boxes will pack in one of four figurines. Three of the four appear to be artsy takes on the classic McDonald’s characters Grimace, Hamburglar and Birdie the Early Bird, while the fourth is a little yellow guy sporting a McDonald’s shirt called Cactus Buddy.

Already online sellers are offering the four collectables for a whopping £98, so expect a frenzy around these limited boxes.

Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA chief marketing and customer experience officer, said: ‘We’re taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald’s experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that’s hyper-relevant for our adult fan.

‘I can’t wait to give fans a unique piece of art and culture as we dive headfirst into the dynamic world of Cactus Plant Flea Market together next week’.

Now who is going to be the first to launch an online petition to bring the adult happy meals this side of the Atlantic?
