From today McDonald’s fans around the UK can go into certain restaurants which have reopened for walk-in take away orders and a number have also started trialling a limited breakfast menu.
A total of 280 have reopened for walk-in customers but unfortunately for Swindon fast food lovers none of them are located here.
Also from today, 42 McDonald’s in the South East of England and Ireland will reintroduce a breakfast menu.
The restaurants will offer a limited selection for breakfast, and McDonald’s has confirmed this will include the popular McMuffins, hash browns, bacon roll and pancakes. However, bagels, porridge and breakfast wraps will not be on the menu for now, due to fewer people in the kitchen with McDonald’s sticking to social distancing guidelines.
A McDonald’s spokesman said: “With restaurant teams adjusting to new procedures to enable safe working and social distancing, stores will look a little different and things may take a little longer.
“The safety and wellbeing of our employees, customers and delivery partner couriers is our priority.”
For customers returning to walk in restaurants, there will be a number of rules in places to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
These include:
- When possible, only one person per household to go inside
- Seating areas closed off
- Toilets and lifts closed to customers
- Recycling stations not in use and customers asked to take rubbish home
- Limited number of touch screens in use to place orders, which staff will sanitise every half an hour
- Orders capped at £25 and a limited menu will remain in place
- Customers can order in advance on the My McDonald’s app
- Customers asked to use contactless payment when possible
- Hand sanitisers available for customers to use on arrival
- Customers asked to follow a one way system and use spacing markers to stick to social distancing rules.
- Cap on the number of people allowed in at any one time
