Health Secretary Matt Hancock, when asked on Good Morning Britain whether he would put more areas into higher tiers today, confirmed: “Yes, I’m afraid I’m going to have to.”
Mr Hancock is set to address the House of Commons at 3pm this afternoon to confirm the results of the tier system review before making a live address to the nation.
Any changes announced are expected to come into effect from Saturday, January 2nd.
