Man sustains serious ankle injury during altercation in McDonald’s

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident that occurred in McDonald‘s, Great Western Way, Swindon.

In the early hours of Sunday 24 March, a 50-year-old man was assaulted following an altercation with another man in the drive-thru area outside the restaurant.

As a result, he sustained a serious fracture to his ankle. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and required surgery.

Det Con Chris Hughes, who is leading the investigation, said, “The incident occurred between approximately 12.15am and 12.20am on Sunday morning. Despite the time of the incident, we know that there were a number of people present at McDonald’s at the time, and they may have seen what happened. I’d be really keen to speak to these people – if this was you, please come forward and provide us with any information you may have.

“Similarly, if anyone has any footage of the incident, then this would of course be a priority to obtain.”

A 50-year-old man from Swindon has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
