A man has been disqualified from driving for three-and-a-half years after crashing his car on the M4 motorway while drink driving.
Aaron Watkins, 31, of Pellau Road, Port Talbot, crashed his car on the M4 eastbound near junction 16 for Royal Wootton Bassett on August 13th, rolling it onto its side.
He escaped serious injury but was subsequently charged with drink driving after blowing over the legal limit.
In a hearing on Wednesday, Watkins pleaded guilty and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for the next three-and-a-half years.
He was also fined £100 and required to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £40.
Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences, all of which increase the risk of being involved in a serious or fatal collision.
For the past month, Wiltshire Police has been running a Road Safety Campaign focusing on enforcement and raising awareness of the fatal five offences: speeding, drink and drug driving, using a phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt, and careless or dangerous driving.
If you suspect somebody of drink driving, please call 101 or 999 in an emergency and give as much information as possible including a description of the driver, vehicle and direction of travel.
