A man was arrested following a police pursuit which started on Drakes Way on Sunday evening.
Shortly before 11pm on Sunday police attempted to stop a grey BMW on Drakes Way with suspected fake number plates.
The driver of the car failed to stop.
Driving at excess speed through Swindon, the driver then turned their lights off and made off towards Cirencester.
Working closely with Gloucestershire Police a pursuit continued before eventually a 30-year-old man from Abingdon was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving with no insurance and for driving while under the influence of drugs.
He was taken to custody for questioning and has been released while further enquiries continue in relation to these offences.
Sgt Will Ayres said: “It is extremely fortunate that nobody was injured – the standard of driving during the pursuit was extremely dangerous. The vehicle was driven at speeds in excess of 100 mph, with several drivers having to take evading action to avoid a collision.
“This arrest was a result of excellent team-work by Roads Policing Officers, Gloucestershire Police and the police dog unit who helped to track down the driver.”
