A 22-year-old man from Didcot in Oxfordshire has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, following an incident during a car meet on the Hawksworth Industrial Estate in Swindon on 30th September.
It is alleged that the man sprayed an unknown substance at officers causing their uniform to smell of faeces – which meant they needed to be discarded.
Superintendent Guy Elkins said: “We will not hesitate to deal robustly with anyone suspected of such a crime directed at police officers in the course of their duty.
“Such behaviour is entirely unacceptable and we will ensure that such offenders are identified and face the full force of the law.
“I would like to thank members of the public for their support in identifying the suspect in this case.”
